PAM, in high molecular weight, can adjust the molecular weight and introduce various ionized groups to get specialized performance. Low molecular weight is used as the effective conditioning agent or stabilizing agent while high molecular weight is as the important flocculating agent.

It can create a sort of hydrophilic rather than water soluble gel with good adhesive strength for a number of group surfaces and dissolved substances. Based on the above properties, PAM is widely used in various fields in terms of flocculating, strengthening, reducing friction, gelling, bonding, scale inhibition and so on.
